Hello, thought i’d start off by sharing a bit about me. I’m Angela, an Ofsted-registered Childminder based in Bury, Lancashire.
I completed my Ofsted childminder registration in August 2017.
I’m 37 years old and Mum to Sebastian, who was born in January 2013 and Francesca who was born in October 2014.
I moved to study in Bury in 2006 after, graduating from Lancaster University with a 2:1 in Education and Research in 2005. Before this I obtained several qualifications in Art and Design.
After I had my daughter I could no longer work at the company I had previously as a Consultant. My perspective on life had totally changed and had a yearning to start a far more creative career. My story began when I started running weekly science-themed classes for under5s after the birth of my daughter. During this time I loved seeing the children develop and grow through the classes, gaining confidence in their abilities. The time spent running the sessions showed us what we were good at and who we wanted to become.
I wanted to teach children in a fun way about the world around them. This is when the idea of Curiosity Kids was formed and I haven’t looked back since. Creating the childminding setting more recently launching the family sessions for adults and tots to enjoy the sensory experience of STEAM activities.
It is important to me that children feel safe, secure and confident. I am here to show them support and encouragement to form their own unique personality.
Being outdoors has a positive impact on everyone’s sense of well-being. It assists with all aspects of a child’s development. Which is why I have outdoor activities planned everyday. I feel passionate about connecting children with nature and learning from being outside.
I have found teaching Sebastian and Francesca to do something for the first time the most wonderful and rewarding things and I feel truly blessed that I have been able to do this with the children I care for as well whilst providing them with lots of love and curious learning moments.
Returning to work isn’t easy for any Mum or dad but knowing that your child is being cared for as if they were my own enables you to hopefully make that transition more manageable.
