Where are you based?

We are based in the Brandlesholme area of Bury in a detached bungalow with secure back garden.

What is your focus?

Children will develop holistically, learning key development skills using themes. We empower children to increase their self-worth and confidence and build a love of life and learning. My approach is based on the theory that children learn best through play. They will explore their world around them through small world play, interactive experiments, gardening, cooking, outdoor play, structured messy play and free play.

Each week we have a different focus to explore and develop our skills using the subject as a focal point. Children learn so much while playing. I provide all snacks and home cooked meals I have vegetarian and vegan meal options for each meal.

We have a large enclosed garden area. We attend a weekly toddler/singing group, visit the local park and the Burrs County Park. We provide a warm welcoming and safe environment for children in my care in a home from home environment. We have a variety of age related toys and activities; we do daily activities such as painting, craft activities, play-dough, experiments, and outdoor play.

We have a separate sleep room available, and downstairs wet room. We stick to a child’s routine whenever we can and any interest they may already have we incorporate these into their play.

What is Safeguarding?

We take safeguarding and child protection very seriously which is why we have an action plan if we suspect harm or abuse of a child or this is disclosed to us. Our action plans include reviews a child’s behaviour when to contact authorities and sharing information.

We as a childminder have to be alert to any issues or concern in the child’s life at home or elsewhere. We have a safeguarding policy and procedures document which has been created in line with safeguarding bury children http://www.safeguardingburychildren.org. This policy is available for parents or guardians to view in our resource room and on a cloud database.

The roles and responsibilities of a childminder are much more than supervising play.

What activities do you do?

We focus on STEM activities as well as the statutory early years framework. We believe that children are naturally curious about the world they live in. We are here to help them understand that world by providing fun activities to learn through play.

We visit a local working farm where children will be able to help out with caring for the animals.

We visit an art studio where we undertake art and pottery classes.

We have planned community visits to the Fire Station and local nursing home.

We regularly visit libraries, the Burrs Country Park, the Playground.
